Switch It Up: The Benefits of Changing Your Environment to Boost Creativity
I’ll get straight to the point: changing your environment can seriously boost your creativity and output. If you’re struggling to focus, get things done or scale your business, changing up where you’re trying to work could very well be the solution to your problem.
When I’m in a rut, I’ll head to a local coffee shop or book a “trip” to a local AirBnb for a couple of days to really boost my creativity and get my head back in the game.
Because if you’re not operating at your best, your business isn’t either. So I’ve pulled together my favourite benefits of changing up your environment - just in case you needed more convincing - along with some spaces to try out.
Benefit: New views, new ideas
Sometimes all you need is to get moving, aka, getting your butt up off the couch and out the door. By the time you’re in a new spot with different views that inspire, you’ll be ready to brainstorm and build that empire of yours.
Try: a local coffeeshop. Don’t forget to treat yourself to a coffee, because you deserve it.
Benefit: New people, new collaborations
Being around new people is a whooooole new level of #vibes for you and your business. When you push yourself outside of your comfort zone, up from your laptop screen and off your couch, you never know who you’ll run into or what sort of collaborations and connections will transpire!
Try: a local co-working space. Bring business cards and an open mind, and see where your business grows from there!
Benefit: New workspace, new mindset
First of all, if you don’t have a spot in your home that is JUST for you to work, you need one. Your dining room table or living room couch isn’t going to cut it for your business or your mindset. Whether you take over a guest room like I did or a closet or corner in your home, make sure it’s for you and your business alone. Then, make sure it’s inspiring and beautiful. Plants and quotes go a long way with this.
Try: revamping your office. Recently, I pulled together my top fave Amazon finds for your home office revamp if you’re looking for some inspiration.
Whatever funk you’re in, know that it’ll pass. Don’t just sit there panicking or hating on yourself for not getting anything done. Do something about it! Change things up, trust yourself, and things will all come back together with even more creativity and productivity than before.
