Remote in Albany: The Plan
I did it, you guys! After spending the time to build the foundation for the virtual and remote aspects of Vow + Vast, I’m in a position to start traveling full time to work wherever I want. I built Vow + Vast to simply help business owners do them- at work and in life. But I also built Vow + Vast’s working environment to accommodate all us wanderlusters out there.
Why? Because work and life are not two different aspects of our day. They are more on a scale with one usually dipping more on one side than another. I believe that once we realize that merging the both to be synonymous during a workday is our best bet to being more balanced humans. That usually means breaking the status quo on a typical 9-5.
Where we can preserve the passion for what we do while also doing it how we want oftentimes is the key to better time management, higher productivity, and in general- happier people!
So now, I’m off to test that theory for real. The goal is to spend no more than six months to get to know a city, its people, attractions, and day-to-day life while also keeping the business thriving. It won’t be easy since essentially I’ll be living out of a suitcase. It won’t be easy maintaining my business while also planning the next move. It sure as hell will test the routines I have put in place and my time management first hand. One thing is for sure- I’m executing a huge goal! So who’s ready for this adventure to get started?
Where to first? Albany, New York for the Fall.
You’re probably thinking, why on earth Albany, NY? Because of COVID-19. Now that we’re in the thick of a pandemic, I decided to be a little cautious with my inaugural location in case business ends up being affected. Plus, Albany is where I was born! Combine that with seeing my family before choosing a place to settle myself and my business down is a priority. I may end up settling on the other coast or in a different country. Who knows?
I moved from Albany to Florida when I was six years old so I didn’t get that much opportunity to explore or remember Albany. The memories I do have, I’m quite fond of and plan on re-creating them while I’m there, COVID permitting. Albany is known for obviously being the state capital. What people don’t know is that its architecture is top-notch. If you are ever visiting, I recommend going into the state capital building. It’s gorgeous! The blend of styles is truly something that needs to be in a book somewhere.
Architecture aside, I’m living for the Fall season up there. Red, orange, yellow leaves on long drives in fresh crisp air are my personal happy place. You can look forward to lots of apple picking pictures showing up on the feed! You may even get hangry with the amounts of fresh apple cider and cider donuts I’ll be consuming. Besides these main memories of mine, there are a few more I plan on sharing along the way. If you know me, you know it’ll involve museums, food, and stiff drinks.
All plans are set, OOO messages up, and the apartment ready for moving in.
Wish me luck on the 22-hour journey up?
xo,
Kristen
